QUILT HISTORY IN California
California Sesquicentennial Quilt
One of the endeavors of the CHQP is the California Sesquicentennial Quilt, which is a gift to the people of California. The quilt was created by 300 quilter's throughout California. It is now used during special ceremonies in the rotunda of the Capitol Building. It has been on display at the Women's History Museum. California Heritage Quilt Project
The Guild has members who serve on this historical project. Interviews with over 1,000 quilters have been transferred to CD ROM and stored in the Golden State Museum in Sacramento, CA, where they will be available for research in the future. This documented, historical account of women who quilt will have great significance to California in the decades to come. |
