Ellen Anne Eddy

NOVEMBER 15, 2005: Ellen has spent most of her life either teaching, writing or working with fabric, and now she's come to a point where all occupations blend. She began quilting in response to a gift from a neighbor who had lived next door when she was a child. Her mother was a firm believer in cleaning by elimination, and at one point she had thrown out one of the family's quilt tops. Her neighbor saved that top till Ellen was grown, had it quilted, and gave it to her. It was such an inspiration that she had to learn to quilt and has been quilting ever since. Ellen grew up in Streator, IL. She went to school at Knox College in Galesburg, IL and at Boston State University, in Boston MA studying education. She currently teaches a series of fiber art courses called Thread Magic, covering all kinds of machine embroidery techniques for quilters. She lives in the Indiana Dunes area with three cat helpers, Rosalinda Thornbush, Ivy Gray Grace, and Ariane Growltiger and with Tigre Tiger boy who is a greyhound. They are all very involved with Ellen's work, and have long since taken over quality control.
