MARCH 2005: As a special treat for National Quilt Day, the Guild presented a special workshop by Karen Boutte, also know as the Quilt Diva. She was very entertaining as she inspired the participants creativity with her unique style.
Karen was born in San Francisco, but the roots of her heritage began in the Lone Star State. Although quilting has always been a pastime of hers, she dove into it after retiring from 28 years at PacBell.
Her years of practice and countless ideas began to surface when she developed an easy but stunning art quilt jacket made from a sweatshirt foundation with embellishments and decorative sewing machine stitching.
