We had the wonderful opportunity to have Laurel as the speaker at the February guild meeting.
BIOGRAPHY: She comes from a long line of gifted textile artisans. Her mother taught her to sew when she was a young child. She loves hand and machine appliqué, and prefers natural landscapes that include mountains, trees and flowers. She is best known for her complimentary mix of color, pattern and texture. Laurel has shown her quilts in the San Francisco Bay Area at the Contra Costa and River City Quilt Guild Shows and the Pacific International Quilt Show in Santa Clara, receiving first place and viewer's choice awards. Whisper Color accurately describes the technique Laurel uses to dye silk scarves, thus, her company name was born.She is a registered nurse and a lactation educator. She and her husband Alfred have been married for 28 years. They have two college-age boys and a six-year-old daughter.
